Since 2019 I've been organising free community events with my mate Robert under the name The Fremantle Network. While we have been known to organise election debates and documentary screenings, our most popular effort by far is Politics in the Pub.
Held monthly at the Local Hotel in South Fremantle, these can attract 150+ people and significant media attention. We take topics by request, from the news, and personal curiosity, and secure top notch speakers to talk with community over a pint and a feed.
In my view politics is the question of how we can live with each other. I've spent years developing the reputation of these events, such that people who would never dream of speaking in front of a Fremantle audience look forward to coming along. It hasn't been easy.
